VUNG TAU – A TOURIST RESORT

Ba Ria – Vung Tau misses tourism season

land of Vietnam proves to be an ideal destination for foreign tourists, who come in December and January to avoid the winter’s coldness in their home countries and enjoy Christmas and New Year.

 

Ba Ria – Vung Tau is always full of foreign travellers in the tourism season. In December 2005, for example, Ky Van resort received some 1,000 international tourists and gained the turnover of VND2.5bil ($0.15mil). The newly operational resorts there like Long Hai Beach, Intourco and Binh An also receive a lot of foreign tourists from Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Australia, Russia and the US.

Disneyland-style park for Vung Tau

vietnam-travel-vungtau-img-02The company submitted its plans to Ba Ria-Vung Tau province authorities when a delegation, led by chairman and CEO William Lee, visited the Sea Festival 2006 in Vung Tau last week. It also assigned Good Choice Imports-Exports & Investments, Inc (GCII), one of PDE’s affiliates, to proceed with the two projects, with a combined investment capital of up to $550 million.

One of the proposals includes a theme park project, named ‘Wonderful World’, which will cover nearly 200 hectares in the Vung Tau’s Bau Trung area and feature an amusement park modelled on Disneyland with entertainment for children and adults.

The giant park will also house a “Wonders of the World” site, where spectators will find replicas of the Eiffel Tower, Golden Gate Bridge, the Egyptian Pyramids as well as an international conference centre, shopping malls, internationally-standardised hotels and restaurants, 3D cinemas, and open-air stages. The cost for the project is estimated at $300m.
